Oman, stay at Al Falaj

As ever, the food at Al Falaj hotel was very good. I ate breakfast and my lunch every day at the hotel buffet, and there was a variety of choices for a non-meat eater. I also had a late evening flight to catch and was allowed to stay on site until I was ready to leave, which was really helpful. I will defeinetly be returning to the hotel again for another stay next year.

My airport shuttle service didn't turn up, and I felt that I had to arrange it all with the driver, rather than it be arranged by reception staff as previously booked last year. It was also a shame that 'Fish Night' and certain tours were no longer available. I didn't have a guide, so I relied on making visits I'd made last year to keep me occupied. Lastly, the taxi charges from the hotel were exceptionally high. it's better to see if you can catch a local taxi or use the bus services, which can take much longer to arrive at destinations. Overall, I was pleased with my stay and was upgraded to a better room.

Ive stayed at the Al Falaj many time on business trips to Muscat all very friendly, good service and personally i love the location in the old part of Muscat and close to the Muttrah Corniche

Excellent location and great hospitality

The breakfast was excellent but they need to add more indian food. Every food tasted great they have food , fruits and drinks like apple juice ,orange juice mix fruit juice and cold water. There was even a swimming pool, .

The room service could have been quicker in taking orders.

Decent and calm stay.

The hotel is located in a nice place, easy accessible from airport. The hotel environment was neat and clean all the days I stayed. The morning breakfast was decent.

The hotel is convenient to Mutrah Souq, The National Museum,...

The hotel is convenient to Mutrah Souq, The National Museum, shopping precincts and restaurants. We have stayed here twice, as well as at other hotels in Muscat, but will return here in future. The hotel is good value for money, with a very good and varied breakfast included. The Japanese restaurant on the top floor is great and serves alcohol. The first time we went, there was a bar next to the Japanese restaurant. This time there were 2 bars, one accessible from outside with music and a nightclub look and a “quiet” bar for a more mature clientele. All of this makes the hotel a convenient, hospitable and economical jewel in Muscat.

I have no complaints.

Not a place to experience a gulf state

The pool facility and the food. Staff were friendly, especially the waiter called Austin. ( probably not his real name ). The food was good, but mostly Indian.

The hotel supposedly has had a facelift. It needs another one. We were offered two rooms, neither great and there are no views, as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. £12 taxi ride to town centre. Apart from the taxi's, everything in Muscat is run by Indians

The single room is actually as large as a regular double...

The single room is actually as large as a regular double hotel room. The price is reasonable (for Oman) for a hotel of this quality. The cafe had nice food (you do not need to have the buffet) and small bar had friendly staff, although the car theme diner/bar shown in photos is actually a night club not something older guests are likely to access.

The only thing I didn't like was the bell hop/doorman rather rudely demanded a tip from me soon as he deposited my bag in the room. 'Tip, give me tip'. Hey buddy how about you just do your job and if someone thinks you are giving service above normal then they might tip you rather than behaving like a jerk.

Good stay

As usual the stay in this hotel was great.

During a dinner (no buffet) we didn't receive an accomodate service from the supervisor. Waiting our dishes no bread, no drinks, no plates! We were "saved" from one very kind of the personnel only later providing us better comfort and we appreciate it so much.

Comfortable, friendly and great value.

Excellent balance between price and comfort. Far better than many much more expensive hotels in Muscat. I've been staying at this hotel regularly for some years now and I recommend it highly.

The air conditioning in the rooms can be a bit ferocious.

The room was clean.

Room was not ready. They had to do maintenance work. The single beds were too narrow. My hands would hang off the bed if I kept them by my side. The lighting in the wardrobe area was so dim that you couldn't comb you hair in the mirror. And of course, the wardrobe was really dark.

Not a Hilton, but a good clean well located hotel with the refurbished rooms at a good standard.

The hotel was fine. The fact that it had a German tourist bus group means it is reasonable generally. What was a surprise find was the Japanese restaurant on the 8th floor, which was excellent. Chef Ragu from Kerala was great company.

It was being refurbished. The older rooms were tired. The new rooms were fine, and reasonable. The finishes aren't high standard, but at the price it is reasonable. Breakfast was a bit slow and coffee cups disappeared as quick as they could bring them out with the thirsty bus group, but otherwise quite reasonable.

Value for money and Great Breakfast and very friendly staff

The best part of stay was quiet ambiance (in and out) enable a good sleep. Staff are excellent. Particularly Girish at front desk is a breeze.. initially booked for 3 nights but landed in extending for 2 months more. Good job guys.

Nice hotel at a reasonable price

I liked the staff hospitality and professional attituted, the breakfast, which is very nice and the atmosphere of Al Falaj. It's also close to the chornice. Only 3 Omani rials by taxi.

The pool area, even though already pleasant and nice, could be improved and changed in a better way.
